2025 Grammys: The Moments That Mattered

The Grammys have long been a night of celebration, controversy, and cultural milestones that keep the music world talking for weeks. Whether it’s unexpected wins, viral performances, or debates that take over social media, the ceremony never fails to spark conversation. This year was no different— delivering a mix of unforgettable highs and lows that will be dissected for years to come. Here’s a look at the moments that had us talking.

Doechii’s Takeover

Her performance, her big win, her speech— everything. From the heartfelt moment of bringing her mom on stage to igniting the heated online debate over how an album that debuted with just 11k first-week sales could claim such a prestigious award (answer: because it’s just that good), she made sure no one would forget her name.

Kendrick’s Clean Sweep

Not Like Us won ALL FIVE categories it was nominated for— Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance and Best Music Video. A clean sweep for one of the most undeniable hits of the year. This would’ve been the definitive end to the conversation as to who won the beef… but with the Super Bowl this weekend, that’s just looking like it will be his victory lap.

The Best New Artist Medley

For the first time ever, the Grammys did us the favor of laying it all out— no more “who?” moments, because every nominee for Best New Artist hit the stage. It was a showcase that proved why each of them earned their spot, highlighting a lineup of artists who were all so different in style and sound. One of my favorite moments of the night— and something that should definitely become a tradition— this segment gave every nominee their moment to shine, turning Best New Artist into more than just a trophy race.

The Weeknd’s Return

After years of (very publicly) boycotting the Grammys for lack of voting transparency, The Weeknd shocked everyone with an unexpected performance of Timeless, marking a major moment of reconciliation— or at least, a temporary truce to promote his new album. Oh, and Playboi Carti was there too.

Beyoncé finally wins album of the year

Beyoncé finally won album of the year with Cowboy Carter, igniting yet another internet war. But let’s be real— no other album on that list was as talked about and actually good, with BRAT by Charli xcx being its only real competition. But after Jay-Z’s viral rant last year about the Grammys overlooking Beyoncé in the category, the timing has people questioning whether this was a long-overdue win or just the Recording Academy saving face. Maybe The Weeknd was right…
